Associate Degree of Ministry
This is a course of the Australian University of Theology
The Associate Degree of Ministry will extend your biblical and theological foundation for long term vocational ministry and will equip you with specialised knowledge and skills for effective ministry to children and young people.
Ideal for:
A two/three-year traineeship for children's and youth ministry.
Being equipped for vocational ministry.
Pathways to further theological study at AUT colleges and Moore College.*
Pursuing ordination in the Anglican Diocese of Sydney.**
*Students seeking entry into second year of Moore College are required to complete an Advanced Diploma of Theology, Associate Degree of Ministry or Associate Degree of Theology with a credit average. This course must include NT Greek and other specified units in Theology, Bible, and Church History.
**Students seeking Anglican ordination in the diocese of Sydney through Youthworks College are required to complete the Associate Degree of Ministry or Associate Degree of Theology, including unit DE036-612.
Rationale
Introduces students to the sources and content of the Christian story and message, and provides training which emphasises application and practice of this story and message in the contemporary world.
Requires specialisation in disciplines by which knowledge of God is applied to guide Christian practice:
Evangelism and Missiology (EM)
Pastoral & Church Focused Ministry (PC)
Development and Education Ministry (DE)
Integrates studies in the Bible and Christian tradition with practical experience and include supervised practice-based learning where appropriate.
Through elective units students can:
Develop particular ministry skills in the three fields of Ministry & Practice
Develop foundational understanding in the Bible and Christian Thought & History
Course Structure
The Associate Degree of Ministry requires 192 credit points (16 units) for completion. The course duration is 2 years full-time, or can be completed over several years part-time.

Admission Requirements
ATAR: Completion of Year 12 with an ATAR of 65 or above; OR
Previous Qualifications: Successful completion of a qualification at AQF Level 5 or above; OR
Demonstrate Academic Suitability for course: Test, Brief Essay, or Interview.
Language Qualifications for NESB: IELTS 6.5 overall with minimum of 6.0 in each subtest OR 10 years in Australia with English being the language primarily spoken both at home and work.

Learning Outcomes
Graduates of the Associate Degree of Ministry will be able to:

1. demonstrate broad and technical understanding of Christian ministry concepts and practices, including spiritual and ethical implications, with particular attention to at least one field of ‘Ministry and Practice’.
2. use ‘Ministry’ knowledge and understanding as the basis of further personal and professional development.
Skills
1. identify, analyse and evaluate ‘Ministry’ scholarship and information from a range of sources.
2. devise responses to problems in Christian ministry.
3. present clear and coherent evidence-based perspectives on ‘Ministry' ideas and practices using a variety of formats to specialist and non-specialist audiences.
