Part Time Study
Want to develop your skills but need flexibility? Both the Diploma and Advanced Diploma programs can be completed through part time study. With no time limit on completing the Diplomas, you can study as many or as few units each year according to your preferences and progress through the 12 units that make up the Diploma or 16 units for the Double Diploma at a pace that suits you.
Part time students are involved in the weekly classes taught at the College by coming for just one of the two days of tuition normally taken in a full time load. Part time students are able to select single units from many of the Diploma or Advanced Diploma units taught by the College. They may also attend intensive courses.

Online Distance Learning
Youthworks College teaches online units in conjunction with Presbyterian Youth (NSW) under the banner of The Timothy Partnership. Online students are provided with specially prepared audio and print resources to support their learning, and interact with tutors and fellow students in online discussion forums.
Ministry placement
As with full time students, part time students are required to work in regular Christian ministry with children or young people in a recognised ministry placement. Ministry placements can be voluntary or paid and must be at least 2.5 hours per week. Part time students should ensure that there is time in their schedule to complete course requirements outside of class hours. The suitability of ministry placements must be confirmed by the College before the commencement of study using the Ministry Placement Confirmation Form. The College can assist in finding a suitable placement if you do not have a position arranged.
Outdoor Ministry Apprenticeship
Did you know that you can complete your Diploma of Theology whilst also working in outdoor ministry?
The rhythms of the calendar are quite different for an outdoor ministry than a parish ministry. In NSW especially, the lion share of the ministry happens in the warmer months, leaving the winter months ideally suited for more intense training and preparation.
From this challenge came a solution that we believe will work to see people well-trained and thoroughly-equipped for a lifetime of ministry, whether in the outdoor context or otherwise.
Instead of adopting the ‘normal’ academic year, we will now be offering apprentices the opportunity to spend most days in the warmer months bringing the Word to children and youth, and spend the winter months of their second and fourth years being taught subjects in the Diploma of Theology. To complement this theological training, apprentices will train for a Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation in first year, and then a Certificate IV in their third year.
Four years of ministry experience, coupled with training in the practical skills of outdoor recreation, and rigorous theological learning. Plus, get paid to learn as you serve on our team!
