The Co-op

The Co-op is a formal partnership between Youthworks College and the Graduates of the college.

We believe that there is no-one who is able to partner with the College so closely and so effectively as the network of Graduates. As the only evangelical theological college in Australia specifically training people for children’s and youth ministry we want to share in their work of seeing kids and young people transformed by Jesus.

“I joined the Co-op because, as a person who has trained at Youthworks, who knows how faithfully and creatively they are equipping people like me to reach children and young people with the gospel...
...I feel a responsibility to help them continue to do that work.”

Belinda Stead, grad. 2010

The partnership finds expression in 3 ways. Members of the Co-op commit themselves to 3 things:

1. Regularly PRAYING for the college. Because we believe we are attempting the impossible in seeing lives changed, we want to devote ourselves to praying for the work of the college. The College will provide regular prayer letters as well as inviting the Co-op to get together twice a year for a night of questions, challenges and prayer.

“It’s very hard to pray ‘from a distance’. The Co-op prayer letter and twice a year get-togethers...
...allow me to share in both the joys and challenges of College’s life and mission”

Fiona Dewhurst, grad. 2009

2. PROMOTING the college by prayerfully asking God to identify at least one suitable candidate to encourage to study at Youthworks College. By inviting people we know and are serving alongside, we can not only ensure that the college is blessed by growing numbers of attending students but also that those studying at the college are those best suited for lay and vocational ministry with children and young people.

“Youthworks has pretty much been foundational for me; teaching me how to study and apply the Bible...
...The Co-op allows me to be intentional about supporting and encouraging other people to have the same experience.”

Tom French, grad. 2004

3.  Opening our POCKETS to give regularly to enable the college the freedom to function in ways that are both faithful and strategic. Some will be able to give a little, some will be able to give a lot but, regardless, we encourage all members of the Co-op to make an ongoing financial commitment.

“I’ve been talking College up for a long time but...
...the Co-op allows me to put my money where my mouth is.
I give financially because I want the college to be free to make the very best decisions, not because of financial pressure, but because they reckon it will bless Jesus and his Kingdom”

Mike Dicker, grad. 2007

The Co-op exists because we know of God’s great love for kids and youth and so we have every expectation that He will continue to use the college to proclaim the life changing good news of Jesus. The college needs real support and from where, if not from the college graduates, can we expect such support to come?

The Co-op provides a simple, strategic and effective way for you to advance the work of Youthworks College.

“I’ve always wanted to support and partner more closely with the college but there hasn’t always been a clear avenue until now. The Co-op makes it easy to do just that and...
...I can see how my involvement is really helping college to bless kids and youth ministry.”

Brendan Moar, grad. 2001

We believe that this partnership will be a real blessing to the college, a real blessing to the graduates and, in turn, a real blessing to the children and young people of Sydney and beyond. We really hope you can get on board.

The Co-op team.

“I thank my God every time I remember you.  In all my prayers for all of you...

...I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel
from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
